The programme for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Annual Conference of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers (FST) 2019 is now available online!

Our tailored programme explores what it means to be a surgical trainer. This will be achieved through breakout sessions, talks and discussions where you will be given the opportunity to get hands-on with experts in the field. Join us and as we delve into ‘the Future of FST and the Professional Trainer’ with the Director of FST, Mr David O’Regan.

Highlights from this year’s event include a special Q&A session titled ‘Improving Surgical Training’ hosted by Mr Dan Beral, Lead for Colorectal and Cancer services in Doncaster and Mr Ian Eardley, Director of the BAUS Office of Education.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from both the trainer and trainee’s perspective with ‘Surgical Training: In Time and On Time’, presented by Ms Rachel Hargest, Colorectal Surgeon at University Hospital of Wales and the Silver Scalpel Award Winner 2017. She is joined by Ms Helen Mohan, past ASiT President, ST7 Colorectal Surgery, University College Dublin and author of ‘Attracting students and Doctors into Surgical Training in UK and Ireland’.
