In response to the national review of medical education and training in Scotland, RCSEd President Professor Michael Lavelle-Jones said:

“It is pleasing to see that there are many positive areas of practice highlighted within the GMC’s report. Scotland is a great place for medical students to study medicine and this is highlighted by the report’s findings that Scottish university campuses provide excellent resources and facilities for their students and are at the forefront of utilising technology in remote settings to aid learning in places such as Shetland and the Western Isles. The report also found there is strong educational governance and ongoing work to widen access to medicine across Scotland. A number of recommendations have also been made to further improve the quality of medical education and training in Scotland such as ensuring there is adequate time in job plans for educators.”
