New AoMRC Guidance for Writing Letters to Patients

The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges has released new guidance regarding writing outpatient clinic letters to patients.

The guidance is intended to encourage doctors to write outpatient clinic letters directly to patients rather than writing to the patient’s General Practitioner. The benefits for patients include receiving information in a clear, simple manner which they understand and better involving them in their care.

Writing to patients involves a change in communication style and guidance from the AoMRC can be seen below.
