New Office Bearers Take Office

A new Office Bearer team has taken office at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh following today's Annual General Meeting. The new line up is led by Mr Mike Lavelle-Jones who takes over from Mr Ian Ritchie as President.

Mr Mike Lavelle-Jones is a Consultant General Surgeon, with an interest in colorectal and paediatric surgery, at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. 

A recent recipient of the  Silver Scalpel Award by the Association of Surgeons in Training for his outstanding contribution to training in surgery, Mr Lavelle-Jones has a long-standing involvement with the RCSEd, having served the College as Convener of Examinations, Honorary Secretary and Vice President for external affairs, with a special responsibility for examinations and the College's international activities.

Taking office as Vice Presidents are Professor John Duncan OBE and Professor Graham Layer, with Dr Judy Evans stepping into the role of Honorary Secretary.
