Commenting on today’s report from the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) ‘Ignoring the Prescription’, Mr Ian Ritchie PRCSEd said:

“A&E services throughout all parts of the UK are subject to intense scrutiny and debate, so we welcome the Royal College of Emergency Medicine’s latest report and work to reduce strains on A&E departments and ensure patients receive the best possible care.

“However, as we work to reduce the pressure on A&E we must also work to ensure that the problems are not simply passed on to other departments. This report is an important contribution to what needs to be a system-wide approach to cut waiting times and improve patient experience. We look forward to working with our colleagues across the NHS on this issue.”
