The RCSEd Dental Faculty is introducing a new Diploma in Special Care Dentistry (Dip SCD), with the first diet to be held in December 2015.
The examination is intended to test ability at the level expected of a dental practitioner with a particular interest in Special Care Dentistry; it is not intended to test to the level of a specialist in SCD.
To enter for the examination candidates must have an acceptable primary dental qualification and have been working as a qualified dentist for at least two years, including the completion of a minimum of 12 months full-time (or equivalent) postgraduate experience in Special Care Dentistry. You will also be required to submit a log book record of clinical experience in Special Care Dentistry.
To help candidates prepare for the Dip SCD, the College will be running a preparation course in September 2015 at which aspects of the examination together with the standards expected will be discussed by members of the College Specialty Advisory Board in Special Care Dentistry.
