Following the British Medical Association (BMA) reaching an agreement with the Government to re-enter genuine negotiations, causing the suspension to planned industrial action by junior doctors on 1 December 2015, RCSEd President Mr Mike Lavelle-Jones has said:

"I am delighted that the industrial action, scheduled for yesterday, was suspended following the arrangement of conciliatory talks between the BMA, NHS Employers and the Department of Health.

"I warmly welcome the agreement by all parties to progress with negotiations. It is my sincere hope, that these negotiations will lead to an outcome which supports all junior doctors and recognises the crucial role they play in the delivery of NHS services, and which is in the very best interests of our patients.”
