We were devastated to hear of the tragic earthquake disaster in Nepal. RCSEd has 17 Fellows and Members in Nepal, some of whom have already written to us to let us know of the difficult circumstances they are facing.

We understand that some of our membership may wish to lend their help to Nepal at this difficult time. The UK International Emergency Trauma and Medical Register (UKIETR) has an organised and co-ordinated a UK foreign medical team in response to the recent earthquake in Nepal, through a collaboration between the UK International Emergency Trauma Register (UK-Med), Save the Children, Handicap International and the UK Government. All the clinicians, including surgeons, who have been deployed have been trained to work in disasters and similar environments.

If you are interested in finding out more about giving your professional support to help in Nepal or in future crisis, please visit the UKIETR / UK-Med website.

If you would like to make a donation to the Nepal Earthquake Appeal please visit the Disaster Emergency Committee website.
