About our RCSEd Regional Centre, Birmingham
In April this year the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh opened its Birmingham Regional Centre, the first time the College has had a presence outside Edinburgh in its 500-year history.
The rationale behind the Centre is simple: RCSEd is an international College with a membership of over 22,000 professionals spread across the world. As such we are dedicated to providing the best services and facilities possible to everyone who has chosen to be part of our College, wherever they are based. The facility in Birmingham has allowed us to bring even more services to the 80% of our UK membership, some 11,000 people, based in England and Wales. In addition, its international transport links have meant that Fellows and Members from outside the UK have been able to make use of the facility. Importantly, it has also given us a base from which to hold our continued discussions with politicians from all parties, and policy makers, influencers and colleagues from across healthcare, thereby truly cementing our position as a College with a strength and relevance throughout the UK.
