Representatives from The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) will be attending the annual Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT) International Surgical Conference in Belfast this weekend, from 28 to 30 March 2014.

Over 700 trainees from all ten surgical specialties are expected to attend this conference to listen to the latest updates in clinical practice, training, and workforce, and to hear what the future holds for surgical training.

For those attending, we encourage you to listen to RCSEd President Mr Ian Ritchie’s participation in a Question Time panel debate on ‘The Role and Work of the Royal Surgical Colleges’ with representatives of the other three Colleges at 9.40am on Saturday 29 March 2014. In his speech, Mr Ritchie will outline specifically what RCSEd is doing for trainees, through support mechanisms and various channels of representation.

We also wish to highlight to you RCSEd Council Member, Professor Rowan Parks’ speech at 1.45pm on Sunday 30 March on ‘The Future of Surgical Training’ session where he will discuss what The Shape of Training Review means for surgical trainees.

We encourage all RCSEd trainees over the course of the conference to visit the College’s Outreach representatives at Stand Number 6 who will be available to offer College information and advice and to listen to the views of our trainee membership.
