The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh wishes to appoint a Convenor of CPD to lead the College’s activities in this important area of work.  The vacancy has arisen following the completion of the previous holder’s term of office. The term of appointment is three years.

The Convenor of CPD is responsible to Council, through the Vice-President with responsibilities for Professional Activities, for developing the College’s strategy and approach to CPD, and for overseeing its implementation from a clinical perspective.

Close collaboration with the Convener of Education, the Educational Strategy Group, and College-based professional staff will also be essential to achieving appropriate accreditation across a range of delivery modes.

It is anticipated that the Convenor of CPD will be a surgeon with experience in postgraduate education or other similar and appropriate experience, together with an insight into adult education as it relates to surgery. However, other applicants with suitable extensive experience may also be considered.

The successful candidate will be expected to become a member of the Academy of  Medical Royal Colleges CPD Committee, and represent the College views at its meetings which will be chaired by the Honorary Secretary of the College.

Application forms are available by contacting the Chief Executive’s Office: i.macdonald@rcsed.ac.uk or dialling 0131 527 1664.  All applications must be submitted (electronically preferably) by 1500hrs on Monday 31 March 2014.
