The President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Mr Ian Ritchie, has been elected Chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and Faculties in Scotland. Mr Ritchie will take over the role from current Chair Dr John Colvin in December and will hold the post for two years.

The Academy helps to promote and co-ordinate the work of Scotland’s Medical Royal Colleges and Faculties and provides a collective voice for the profession north of the border. Its principal aims are to ensure patient safety through better standards, to promote the exchange of expertise between medical organisations and to support better workforce planning.
