Mr Richard McGregor (pictured) has been elected as the new Trainee Member of Council, the second person to hold this post.
Mr McGregor is an ECAT Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Specialty Registrar in General Surgery. He is currently a member of the Trainees' Committee and will take up his duties in August of this year, serving until November 2015.
Speaking about the election, the College President, Mr Ian Ritchie said:
"I would like to congratulate Richard on his election to Council. The role of Trainee Member of Council is an important one and Richard's predecessor, Issaq Ahmed, has been highly effective throughout his term of office in advancing the interests of trainees, not just in surgery but throughout healthcare - not least through his recent successful negotiation with HMRC to ensure that all mandatory medical trainee fees become tax deductible. I am sure that Richard will build on Issaq's successes and ensure that the voice of trainees is represented strongly and effectively."
