The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) is getting set to transform itself into a venue for this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In August, for 23 days only, Space UK will convert the College's Quincentenary Hall into a state-of-the-art venue to host some of the most fascinating shows from all over the globe.
As a Festival venue, this year the College will host five theatre spaces to host 85 different performances (46 shows per day) with 1840 performers, crew and engineers to an estimated audience of 27,000-40,000 festival-goers.
Following huge success in previous years, the stylish courtyard bar '@ Surgeons' Hall' is returning to cater for the city's festival crowds and will provide the perfect setting to embrace the exciting atmosphere.
Commercial Director of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Scott Mitchell said:
"The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is one of the oldest educational organisations in the world, situated in the heart of the city of Edinburgh, so we are naturally delighted to be able to open our historic doors to be part of the prestigious, Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
"We first began hosting Festival shows in 2008 at our spectacular Quincentenary Hall venue on Nicolson Street and since then, we have expanded to offer Festival crowds an atmospheric, vibrant outdoor courtyard bar.
"This year we are thrilled to extend our food offering by adding BBQ food in our attractive outdoor courtyard - this will include 100% British beef burgers, minute steak on focaccia bread, cajun chicken burgers and vegetarian alternatives, which we are sure will prove extremely popular. Our chef is also offering daily specials, which may include haggis stuffed chicken ballotine, or goats cheese, tomato and courgette stuffed butternut squash.
"We hope the people of the city and visitors from beyond take the opportunity this August to stop by to experience what The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh has to offer. Our Surgeons' Hall is the place to be this year!"
The Courtyard Bar at Surgeons' Hall will be open from midday to 1am, seven days-a-week, from 2-24 August 2013.
