On Saturday 6 July 2013, surgeons from around the globe gathered at The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) to celebrate their success after graduating from the 'Masters in Surgical Sciences' Edinburgh Surgical Sciences Qualification.
Run by RCSEd, in partnership with the University of Edinburgh, the Edinburgh Surgical Sciences Qualification (ESSQ) launched in 2007 to deliver a flexible, part-time three year online Masters course. This course is designed for the modern surgeon in training, helping to prepare surgical trainees for the surgical examination, the MRCS (Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons).
Explaining more about the Edinburgh Surgical Sciences Qualification, ESSQ Manager Kaisey Murphy said:
"The ESSQ is currently the most successful recruiting MSc programme at the University of Edinburgh and postgraduate students undertaking this e-Learning course have gone on to achieve outstanding results in the MRCS surgical examination.
"It was wonderful to welcome this year's graduates to Edinburgh, some of whom had travelled from as far afield as Kuala Lumpur and Fiji to attend the ceremony and celebration. Of the 45 students graduating with an MSc in Surgical Sciences, 22 of them graduated with distinction.
"My congratulations to all the 2013 graduates - I wish them all a successful and rewarding surgical career."
