Organised by the Scottish Academy Trainee Doctors' Group, the first National Symposium will take place at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on Friday 10 May 2013.

A medical symposium with a difference, this conference will examine the non-clinical aspects of being a good doctor. Inspired by the Scottish Government's recent report on Promoting Professionalism and Excellence in Scottish Medicine, this series of lectures covers a wide range of interesting non-clinical topics delivered by some of the country's most engaging and prestigious speakers.

Aimed at medical professionals of all grades and specialties, this symposium addresses many of the 'Duties of a Doctor' topics, upon which interviews, selection, appraisal and revalidation are based.

Abstracts are invited for poster presentation under any of the following categories:

  • quality improvement
  • patient safety
  • ethical and legal
  • revalidation
  • non-technical skills including teaching, leadership and management.

Abstracts should be submitted to Margaret Farquhar no later than Friday 5 April 2013. For further information about this Symposium, click here.
