President to Visit Cairo

The President of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) will visit Egypt this week to speak at the Annual Meeting of the Egyptian Society of Surgeons.

At the meeting, held on 10-12 April in Cairo, Mr Ian Ritchie will discuss how thinking on education has changed and how this applies to surgical training.

Ian RitchieCommenting on the visit, Mr Ritchie said: "I very much look forward to the Egyptian Society of Surgeons' conference and to meeting our College's Fellows and Members in Egypt.

"We are proud of our global membership and are delighted that interest in our qualifications has allowed us to hold a number of examinations in Egypt.

"I look forward to using this visit to build on existing relationships and discussing shared professional concerns with our Egyptian colleagues."

The visit comes as the Edinburgh College prepares to open a new exam centre in Cairo. On 10 September 2013, the RCSEd will hold Part A of the Intercollegiate Membership Examination for the first time in Cairo.
