The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) is to host a dinner for Fellows and Members at the Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness on 28 September 2012.

RCSEd is one of the oldest and largest surgical colleges in the world, with over 500 years of excellence in education, assessment and advancement in surgery, across 20,000 Fellows and Members worldwide. For the second year, the College is hosting a dinner in Inverness to bring together its membership in the North of England and Scotland in a local setting.

Representing the College's Office Bearers and Council, will be Mr John Duncan, the College's Honorary Treasurer and a Consultant General and Vascular Surgeon at Raigmore, and Mr Pradip Datta, a College Council member and Honorary Consultant Surgeon at Caithness General Hospital in Wick.

Professor Angus Watson, a Consultant General Surgeon at Raigmore Hospital and one of the College's Regional Surgical Advisers for the North of Scotland, who has led the initiative said:

"Following the success of last year's Fellows and Members Dinner in Inverness, we are delighted to again be hosting an evening to bring together our Fellows and Members in Scotland and the north of England. RCSEd has a historic, worldwide reputation of leading in surgical developments and is actively involved in organising and promoting surgical training opportunities throughout the UK.

"This event has been timed to coincide with the RCSEd Inverness Surgical Careers Roadshow to help enthuse the next generation of surgeons. I look forward to celebrating surgical education and advancement at both these events."

The Fellows and Members Dinner will take place immediately after a Surgical Careers Roadshow which the College is hosting at the Centre for Health Science in Inverness, to offer support and encouragement to fourth and fifth year medical students and foundation doctors who have aspirations towards a career in surgery.

If you are a Fellow or Member and are interested in attending the Fellows and Members' Dinner, please email outreach@rcsed.ac.uk by Friday 21 September 2012.
