The Joint Committee for Surgical Training (JCST) is looking for practising NHS consultants in a number of specialties to serve on their Specialty Advisory Committees (SACs).
The work undertaken by SAC members includes setting standards/quality indicators for the training of surgeons on behalf of the GMC, working on curriculum and assessment development for surgical training, and providing advice to Postgraduate Deans and Schools of Surgery.
The JCST is looking for applicants with a strong personal commitment to the NHS, experience of administration/management of training at regional committee level or equivalent, and knowledge of both SpR and StR training systems.
SAC meetings are held in London (three to five times per year) and travel expenses are paid by the Hospital Trust or Health Board where the representative works.
