The Surgeon coverIn June, The Surgeon announced that its Impact Factor (IF) had reached 1.406 - its highest level yet, with a substantial increase in last year's IF of 1.136.

The RCSEd's academic journal, which is published jointly with RCSI, now ranks 97th in the Surgery category of Thomson Reuters' IF index (up from 102nd last year).

The journal's Editor-in-Chief Professor Austin Leahy, commented: "Impact factors are just one measure of a journal's success, however they are a very important one. The highest ever impact factor for The Surgeon confirms that it is going from strength-to-strength. It is also an acknowledgement of the hard work that has contributed to The Surgeon's success by the Editorial Board, the International Advisory Board, and especially by the team in Elsevier. We will continue to welcome original papers and review articles."
