Membership of the newly established Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management is now open to all surgeons, secondary-care dentists, and trainees.

The Faculty has been set up to bring doctors together for support around leadership and management issues and to advocate the importance of these skills within and beyond the profession.

The purpose of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management is to promote the advancement of medical leadership, management and quality improvement at all stages of the medical career for the benefit of patients. The Faculty works on behalf of doctors, dentists in secondary care and medical students in the UK. It will provide leadership and act as a focus for all doctors and dentists in secondary care, including those who move into formal leadership roles.

The key partners are the medical royal colleges - including The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh - and faculties in the UK, which are represented on the Founding Council of the Faculty.  It is expected to partner with other professional, regulatory, policy and educational organisations in due course.
