Preparation Course for the Tri-Collegiate Membership in Special Care Dentistry Examination (Online)

This half day virtual course is aimed at candidates preparing for the Tri-Collegiate Membership in Special Care Dentistry Examination, and their trainers. It reviews topics covered in the syllabus and gives participants the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the exam format. Trainers will gain insight into the examination format and how they best can prepare their trainees. Participants will appreciate the examination format and gain an understanding of the breadth and depth of knowledge and communication skills required to succeed.

As a result of the course being online, there are certain points that candidates should be aware of:

1. No clinical examination stations shall be present
2. All candidates must have a MAC / PC with admin access to install Zoom
3. All candidates must ensure that they have a strong broadband/internet connection to allow for video conversation. Plus, a webcam
4. A microphone headset is recommended but not mandatory

Course Format

Online presentations. Interactive sessions for each of the three components of the examination.

Course Objectives

• To inform candidates about the MSCD examination, its structure and what to expect in each component
• To give the opportunity to participate in mock examinations and observe simulated oral examinations
• To provide the opportunity for candidates to ask questions in an open forum

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will have an appreciation of the examination format, the structure of each of three components and an understanding of the knowledge requirements for a successful outcome.
