Dear Fellow,
Each year the College is asked to submit nominations for distinction awards across the United Kingdom. In England and Wales, the number of nominations sought is small - a maximum of 4 each for gold and silver awards and a maximum of 12 for bronze awards.
Although the results of last year’s distinction awards have not yet been announced, this should not stop you from applying to the College this year.
If you are a consultant and in a position for advancement of an award or to receive a new award, and wish to be considered for College support in next year's award round, please send the following:
- your CV (on the appropriate ACCEA form); and
- a short paragraph outlining the duties you currently undertake on behalf of the College and your contributions to surgery both locally and nationally.
Closing date for submissions to the College is WEDNESDAY 29th SEPTEMBER 2010.
The College’s Awards Committee (consisting of College Fellows who are senior award holders) will meet to decide which consultants will be supported from England and Wales. The Committee’s decision will be based on the strength of the consultant's ACCEA CV form together with information and advice sought from local senior award holders, College Regional Advisers and senior College Office Bearers. Due to the number of applications received, we will only contact those nominees who are successful in being shortlisted by the College.
The appropriate forms are attached below and further information can be found at www.dh.gov.uk/ab/ACCEA.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries.
