INFLUENZA A (H1N1) - INFORMATION FOR EXAMINATION CANDIDATES AND COURSE DELEGATES

The effects of the current Swine Flu epidemic may make it necessary to cancel or postpone an examination or educational event. In such a circumstance, the College will make every effort to notify candidates or delegates as soon as the decision to cancel or postpone has been made.

Course fees and examination fees will be reimbursed in full, or carried forward to a rescheduled event, but the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh regrets that it will not incur any further liability.

Target Audience Those sitting the Intercollegiate MRCS Examination in Surgery in General (Part 3) or new style OSCE exam
Learning Style
Aims and Objectives This three day intensive course is designed to revise a wide range of topics in the various branches of Pathology, Physiology and Clinical Chemistry, that have direct relevance to surgical practice, clinical care and investigation of surgical patients on the ward and in intensive care units. The course is designed to ensure that those who present themselves for the Intercollegiate MRCS Examination in Surgery in General (Part 3)should have attained a good foundation in these basic scienses.

Learning Outcome The Ethos of the course will be to enable the participants to appreciate the fundamental contribution and relevance that the basic sciences have to clinical practice in surgery, and thus gauge the depth and breadth of knowledge that is essentially requrieed by the practising surgeon in these specialties.
