Record of surgical achievement One of the requirements of a Trainee in Surgical Dentistry is the completion of a record of surgical training – log book. The completion of a log book is the responsibility of the Trainee and must be countersigned by the Trainer to satisfy the SAC in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery that the candidate has reached the appropriate level to be recommended for a CCST in Surgical Dentistry. The log book should be filled in throughout the three year period of specialist training.
The submission of the log book to the Advisory Board in Oral Surgery and Surgical Dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is essential, prior to a trainee being eligible to sit the Part II Examination in Surgical Dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, as laid down in the Regulations. The regulations are available on the college website.
