Since its foundation in 1505, The Royal College of Surgeons has continuously promoted, through education, training and examination, the raising of standards in surgical practice both nationally and internationally.

The Faculty of Dental Surgery, in keeping with this core objective, offers its trainees and members many diverse services and learning opportunities. For example, each year, the faculty organises a number of conferences , masterclasses , symposia , colloquia, clinical skills courses and lectures, inviting nationally and internationally renowned speakers to share their knowledge and expertise, thus providing ample opportunities for continuing professional development CPD.

In addition, the Faculty offers courses designed to help prepare candidates for their dental examinations. The Faculty has also endeavoured to promote professional development through its recommended links to external educational resources.
