The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Research Strategy highlights the following areas of Research as priorities for the College to support.
- Surgical translational research
- Surgical health services research
- Research into surgical aspects of patient safety, simulation and non-operative technical skills
- Cancer research of demonstrable direct clinical relevance to the management of solid tumours.
Applications are invited from surgical trainees and recently-appointed Consultants who are Fellows/Members of the College in good standing.
Grants are awarded for pump priming projects for a period of one year only.
Research project submissions should satisfy one or more of the College's four priority areas for research, as listed above. The application should also include a well-defined exit strategy (i.e. how the project will be taken forward). The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 15 June 2012.
