Some candidates who apply for the Diploma in Immediate Medical Care (DIMC) Examination do not fulfil the normal entry requirements. If you are unsure about your eligibility for the examination, you should send an up-to-date curriculum vitae to the College for the attention of the Head of the Application Evaluation Section. You must ensure that details of your pre-hospital emergency care experience are included in your CV.

If you do not fulfil the normal entry requirements we may require to seek further advice. In this instance you may be asked to forward supporting certified evidence of your pre-hospital care experience to be submitted to an Assessor appointed by the Specialty Advisory Board responsible for the examination. We will ensure that it is sent to the Assessor and will write to you once a decision has been taken. On occasion it may be that a decision requires to be obtained from the Board. In such cases there may be a delay in giving you a final decision as the Advisory Board only meets three times per year. Again, once a decision has been made then we will write to advise you of the outcome.

If you are unclear as to whether or not you are eligible for an examination, please do not wait to contact us at the closing date for receipt of applications for the diet you wish to enter. It is very disappointing to have to return application forms to candidates at this stage and advise them that a decision requires to be made by the Board BEFORE they could be considered for entry to the examination. Please help us to help you by contacting us at an early stage.
