Tri-Collegiate Specialty Membership Examinations

The Deans of the Dental Faculties of Edinburgh, England and Glasgow are pleased to announce inter-collegiate agreement on the introduction of tri-collegiate specialty membership examinations. Each examination under development (currently Paediatric Dentistry, Oral Surgery and Special Care Dentistry) will be administered by one College, on behalf of all three. The first diets of these tri-collegiate examinations will be held in 2012.

The development and implementation of the examinations will be overseen by the Tri-collegiate Specialty Membership Executive.

The Deans have agreed that in future they will work towards tri-collegiate arrangements for the remaining specialty membership examinations but until such arrangements are agreed they will continue to operate under existing arrangements.

Secretary to Faculty of Dental Surgery

Professor Michael Manogue was appointed to the post of Secretary to the Faculty and took up office in January.

Dean elect and Vice Dean Elect

Professor Richard Ibbetson and Mr. Robert Chate have been elected to the positions of Dean and Vice Dean of the Faculty respectively. Both will take up office at the Annual General Meeting in September.

Dental Affiliate Networks

The Faculty has established a range of Affiliate Networks for undergraduate students, Pre-membership dentists and Dental Care Professionals. Benefits of joining the network include an RCSEd email account, discounts on courses and events and discounted rates with a number of publishers.
