Work Permits
RCSEd is an equal opportunities employer. Whilst the UK is a member of the European Union (EU) there is no need for a work permit however you must apply to the Home Office, Work Permits (UK) for an “Accession State Worker Registration Certificate”.
If you reside outwith the EU and you have specialised skills for the vacancy we are recruiting, then RCSEd will endeavour to support your application to the UK Border Agency in order for you to gain a Work Permit. It is your responsibility to ensure that you meet the requirements of the UK Border Agency and pay all the appropriate fees.
Hours of Work
The normal hours for full-time staff is 35 hours per week Monday to Friday (9.00am-5.00pm with one hour for lunch). Full-time staff will be expected to work overtime when requested.
Part-time staff have their standard hours, i.e. the number of hours to be worked per day and days per week, arranged when they join the College.
For casual members of staff hours will vary from week to week depending on business needs. Rotas are arranged on a week-by-week basis.
Probationary Review
The offer of permanent employment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a three month probationary review although this may vary dependent on the nature of the position.
Flexible Working
Any requests for flexible working should be made to your Line Manager in the first instance. Your Line Manager will bring this to the attention of the HR Manager where your request will be considered. You will receive a response within five (5) days.
Childcare Benefits
The College has a Child Care Voucher Scheme in place using Busy Bees to which childcare vouchers can be purchased. These are an employee benefit that offers a tax and national insurance contribution break for working parents. The maximum vouchers per month are £243 for each parent.
The vouchers can be used to pay for registered childcare, including childminders, day nurseries, holiday schemes, before and after school clubs.
Private Health Care Scheme

Gym Membership
No scheme in place at present.
Training and Development
RCSEd support the training and development of all staff members. The opportunity to discuss training and development occurs following the probationary review meeting and at the yearly annual review (held in March). Training and/or development is identified in agreement with your Line Manager which is followed up and organised between your Line Manager and the Personnel Department.
Pension Scheme
All members of staff are invited to join the College’s Pension Scheme after the successful completion of their probationary review. This is a money purchase scheme plan to which members of staff may contribute a minimum of 5% to the maximum 9% of their annual salary towards their pension. The College contributes an additional 7.5%.
