The webinar ‘Paediatric Dentistry and Special Care Dentistry – Has COVID-19 changed your outlook?’ is part of our successful series of dental specific webinars.

This part of the series will cover the specific challenges that paediatric dentists and special care dentists have faced since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim to provide guidance towards pragmatic and safe solutions.

The interactive webinar will be chaired by Dean Elect of the RCSEd’s Faculty of Dental Surgery Professor Philip Taylor who will be joined by Richard Cure, RCSEd Convener of Dental Education as moderator.

  • Professor Philip Taylor - RCSEd FDS Dean Elect (Chair)
    Professor Philip Taylor is Professor of Prosthodontics at QMUL and Restorative Consultant at Barts Heath NHS Trust where he is Clinical Director for Dentistry. He has been director of the postgraduate course in Prosthodontics at QMUL for 20 years and has examined for the College at several levels. He is the Dean Elect of the Faculty of Dental Surgery and will take up the role of Dean following the Dental AGM on 2nd October 2020.
  • Dr Richard Cure - RCSEd Convener of Dental Education (Moderator)
    Richard Cure is Associate Professor, Head of Orthodontics at The University of Warwick. He is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Fellow of the Faculty of Dental Trainers and a GDC Education Associate. He examines for the College at MOrth, MFDS and MAGDS.
  • Dr Carole Boyle
    Consultant and Clinical Lead for Sedation and Special Care Dentistry at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London. She is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer. Carole is a member of the Specialist Advisory Board in Oral Medicine & Special Care Dentistry, chairs the Speciality Advisory committee for SCD and is the Co-Chair of the Tri-Collegiate Membership in Special Care Dentistry.
  • Mr Jonathon Kallow
    Specialist in Special Care Dentistry, NHS Fife Public Dental Service Special Care Dental Unit. Chair of the SAB in Oral Medicine and Special Care Dentistry.
  • Dr Manal Halabi
    Associate Professor and Program Director, Paediatric Dentistry. Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dubai, UAE. Dr Manal completed her postgraduate training in Pediatric Dentistry and a Master of Oral Biology at the University of Maryland at Baltimore.  She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Paediatric Dentistry and currently serving as a member of the Educational Committee of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry.
  • Dr Michelle Moffat
    NHS Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry within Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Associate Clinical Lecturer at Newcastle University. She is the Trust lead dentist for safeguarding and lead Paediatric Dentist for the Oral Health Care Unit at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital. She is Chair of the UK Paediatric Dentistry Clinical Excellence Network for Paediatric Cardiology. She is Deputy Chair of the Specialist Advisory Board for the Specialty of Paediatric Dentistry (RCS Edinburgh). She is a current examiner for the Tricollegiate Specialty Membership examination. She has previously held the roles of Training Programme Director for Speciality Paediatric Dentistry and examiner for RCS Collegiate Membership Examination and Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination.
