The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is proud to announce that Dr Mazin Yousif Basheer Elkheer has been awarded as the inaugural recipient of the Dr Jeyasekharan Travelling Fellowship.
Dr Mazin Yousif Basheer Elkheer will embark on a 6 week fellowship at the Dr. Jeyasekharan Hospital and Nursing Home in Nagercoil, South India, working amongst a rural multi-disciplinary team, and building on his 15 years’ experience across Sudan, Saudi Arabi and Ireland as a general practitioner. Through this experience Dr Elkheer “aspires to deepen [his] understanding of tropical medicine and rural healthcare delivery to enhance his practise and benefit under-served populations globally."
The Dr Jeyasekhran Travelling Fellowship was established by Dr Devaprasath Jeyasekharan, to continue the legacy of his father, who tirelessly supported medical education throughout his career and advocated for improving healthcare in his community.
